With 8 out of 10 people expected to experience back pain in their life time, more and more will be looking for alternatives. Rather than chemicals and surgery to treat the pain, many are looking for a solution to the underlying cause. We want to treat the cause of lower back pain and not the symptoms.
Although there are few high level studies on alternative methods of treating back pain, this does not mean they do not work. Speak to those who have used these. Speak to those who have had the surgery and or the chemical medications. Make your decision as an educated consumer. When speaking to those who had the surgery, ask yourself, what if there was a better way?
The water cure protocol has resolved the cause of low back pain for many.
The optimal goal of any health care professional should be to treat the cause of lower back pain, not just the pain. Eliminate the cause and you eliminate the pain.
Start with your mattress. We have helped countless people with a single bit of advice. Get a high quality mattress. A cheap mattress or an old mattress may not provide the proper support. Many mattress sellers have a guarantee. Try it and see if you like it. Be prepared to put out several hundred dollars. However, this investment can pay huge rewards in the quality of life and sleep you get.
Back injuries that can cause pain include sprains and fractures or broken bones. These can cause short term pain or chronic long term pain.
Sprains result from injuries to the ligaments that support and protect the spine. When we twist or lift with out having proper body alignment, we can cause strains.
Osteoporosis which results in porous, weak bones can be the result of diet or medications like Fosamax. Do a web search on Fosamax fractures to learn more about this kind of bone fracture.
Osteoporosis can be caused by what we eat or fail to eat. One study found that milk is not the best choice for calcium to make strong bones. It is simple, consider what do cows, sheep, or even deer and antelope eat to have strong bones? They get calcium from the foods they eat naturally.
Conversely, a diet that causes inflammation can cause bone deterioration. As our bodies become more acid, as a self protection mechanism, calcium is robbed from our bones and used to neutralize the acidity. Drinking low fat milk can cause us to become more acidic and result in bone loss, which can result in osteoporosis.
Related to injuries includes getting your back out of alignment. Some have noted that when standing erect, one shoulder will be lower than the other. Depending on where the misalignment is, some have to hunch over to relieve the pain.
One of the easiest ways to resolve this is chiropractic treatments. Do not play doctor and have someone do it for you. It could cause permanent damage to your spinal cord. The visit to the doctor will bring about almost instant relief for most. In some cases, when a muscle is pulling, multiple treatments may be necessary.
Using the water cures protocol will enhance the effectiveness of the chiropractic treatment and speed up the healing.
The solution to disk injury is diet, rest and the Water Cures Protocol.
When there is damage to the disc, the soft cushion in between he bones, the medical treatment is often to provide chemical analgesia and surgery.
Yet we have seen people who have injured their disks who have successfully healed their backs. It requires drastic treatments, including eating a strict diet of healthy foods, the water cures protocol and total rest of the back on a back supportive bed. No cheap mattresses will work.
If you feel like you do not have 2 weeks to wait till it heals, please find a few who have had the surgery where it has not worked. Asked what their lives are like. Ask if they had it all to do over and it would only have cost a few weeks of time, what would they have chosen.
Diseases and conditions can be the cause of low back pain. Although water cures may not make the disease go away, it can minimize the pain for many.

- spinal stenosis ( narrowing of the spinal column)
Kidney stones, infections, endometriosis, fibromyalgia
Tumors in the back are rare and are usually cancer that has metastasized or spread from other places where it originated.

When we have stress, our muscles tighten up. When we have prolonged stress, we are at risk of that stress causing health challenges that are not easily diagnosed. One such could be back pain.

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...
"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.
As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water.
