How long bronchitis will last depends of whether you have chronic bronchitis or acute bronchitis.
When people take medical treatment for bronchitis, the outcomes can vary. The first issue that needs to be considered, what is causing the bronchitis? The second, is it really bronchitis and not cough variant asthma?
Your doctor has probably told you that you have an infection of the bronchioles, the tubes that air you breathe travels through to get to the lungs. You may or may not be given medications. Often times, adding unnatural and foreign chemicals to our bodies does not help our bodies to perform better.
Acute Bronchitis Prognosis When you have acute bronchitis, the cough may last from a few days to a few weeks. Usually it will not last for more than three weeks before it starts to go away. This is the time it takes for the lungs to heal.
You should start to feel better once the coughing ends.
However, some may get a form of bronchitis that will last 4 to 6 weeks without letup.
When you have chronic bronchitis, the cough could last at least a few weeks to a month. Sometimes the cough could last for three months with periods no coughing at all.
You may be told that chronic bronchitis may never resolve. The symptoms appearing and disappearing is called flaring and subsiding.
When bronchitis flares, mucus production is increased in reaction to the inflammation. It is the inflammation that causes the increase in mucus. It is the mucus that causes the coughing. The coughing is how the body tries to get rid of the mucus.
Because your body is compromised, you are at greater risk for getting pneumonia. Because you are coughing and not finding relief even when you go to the doctor, you may resist seeking medical help. So if your symptoms get worse, still no reason to go get medical help, so you think. This thinking is a really bad idea.
How can you know if you have pneumonia? You will need a doctor to make a diagnoses. We will cover more on this later. For now, if your bronchitis gets worse, see your doctor. It can even result in heart damage.
For most, bronchitis will usually not respond to antibiotics. Even so, if you start antibiotics, always make sure you complete the course.
What The Science Says: According to the NNT.com, acute bronchitis is a cough related illness that lasts 1-3 weeks and sputum may or may not be present is someone that does not have chronic lung disease.
It is perhaps one of the most common conditions that people will consult their doctor.
Fewer than 10 percent of those afflicted are bacterial (read: need an antibiotic). Most medical guidelines actually do not recommend antibiotics use for bronchitis.
However, antibiotics and usually broad spectrum antibiotics are prescribed for 60-80% of of those seen by their doctor.
This website looked at how good they did in helping improve symptoms and resulting in a cure for adults that have acute bronchitis.
If the next time you get bronchitis, you choose to avoid the antibiotics, consider another option. Consider what those who have tried it and consider to be a better way.
If you are here, no doubt you are wondering how long does bronchitis last? You probably have not found any answers to the most important question, how do I make it go away?

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...
"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.
As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water. Then I took a second pinch of salt and another glass of water. My headache was gone in less than 5 minutes.
From my personal experience, it usually takes 30 to 45 minutes for Ibuprofen to work. Some have found it takes ibuprofen 24 minutes to start working.
Yet on the Water Cures protocol, my headache was gone in 5 minutes.
Its simple: give your body what it needs and your body will give you what you need, the ability to feel great.
Water Cures was the solution for the elimination of my headache. It is what I will use from now on.
Why not give it a try yourself.
