There is a new paradigm in sunburn itch cure right in your kitchen. It can be found on your tap and in your cupboard. It fills a basic human need to resolve a common human condition, ending the itch. If you use it prior to and while in the sun, it may potentially prevent you from getting a sunburn altogether or at least lessen the damage, pain and itch the burn causes.

For years I avoided the sun, always burning very bad and even blistering. When everyone else went to the beach, I went inland sight seeing, usually by myself. Aside from the dangers of sunscreens and the toxic chemical within, they just did not work for me. I wonder if a SPF 4500 would even work?
Then, on becoming a holistic nurse I learned a simple truth about health. If gven what is needed, our bodies can heal or at the least, manage just about anything. Using this theory, I set out to figure out how to prevent sunburn naturally. And I succeeded. Simply using some antioxidant supplements like NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) the night before, the morning of and around noon time of the day, I could spend the day in the sun without burning.
Then I made an incredible discovery as I was researching the Water Cures protocol on the National Institute of Health website. One study found that by using unprocessed salt, a side effect was an increase in glutathione (GSH). Glutathione is the primary thing that protects our body from of all things radiation. Sun light is radiation. Thus, the original theory of antioxidants to protect my skin from the free radicals of sun radiation had a new partner, the Water Cures Protocol.
So, in a recent visit to Mexico, trying it, turns out that without the NAC, the Water Cures helped me not only avoid sunburn to my pasty white legs exposed to the sun for the first time this year (it was 95 degrees fahrenheit, it also afforded me a very slight tan as well and most important, no sunburn or sunburn itch.
So, test the theory out for yourself. See if it works. Start off slowly and build up. Always have a back up plan just in case you cannot comply fully with the protocol.
Please Note: We are giving this information away for free. Could you do something for us? Could you buy us a bottle of water? If you cannot afford a bottle of water (or otherwise do not want to buy us a bottle), then maybe you will tell others on social media or other blogs, even getting us a link. In other words, we hope you spread the word as you received free, so we hope you will give freely.Likewise, if it does not work for you, let us know. Help us help many more. There may be tweaks we can add to the protocol to create a free and healthy way to avoid sunburn and still be able to enjoy time in the sun.
This is my story and this is how I developed the theory that we have started to test. Of course, I tested it on myself and the results were dramatic so far. Now we are looking for others to see if it will work as well for them. There is some more information you might want to consider.
UV or ultraviolet radiation causes the tell tale red skin on the surface of the skin we call sunburn. Similar to the way your microwave oven vibrates molecules to warm them up, the radiation of the UV light from the sun causes our skin to literally cook.
Once the damage goes to the level of the DNA in the cells, the body starts repairing the damaged cells. This outer layer of skin has a lot of nerve cells. The nerve cells are there to help protect us, warning that something is wrong like a bug crawling on our skin, we are getting too cold or we are getting too hot.
Unlike something hot touching us and withdrawing from the source of pain, the burning from the sun happens slowly and the damage is done before we register the pain or see the red skin. In other words, the damage is done long before we have any signs or symptoms.
This process provides a clue to both heal and what to do to prevent the sunburn and sunburn itch in the first place.
There is a better, safer and cheaper way to end the sunburn pain and itch. First, consider the typical treatments and the disadvantages they have.
OTC Medications: There are over the counter medications. The problem with them is they may cause an allergic reaction and your sunburn itch could become worse than you could imagine.
Sunburn Lotions: These have all kind of claims but the bottom line, if they have chemicals as part of their make up, ask yourself this question: Will adding more chemicals to your body improve health and healing?
Aloe, Vinegar or an Oatmeal Bath: While these may work great, they require application and to some degree, you have to be careful what you get next to or wear while doing the treatment. And then there is the whole tossed salad thing.
This leaves us with the ultimate home remedy for sunburn treatment.
This is so simple, sustainable and almost free, you will wonder why nobody has said anything about it before. Wait...if there is no profit motive, why would anyone want to share it.
Note: We Are All Different You will have to do some experimentation here. Some are depleted in potassium due to the foods they typically eat. If you eat a lot of fresh vegetables, you may be okay. If you eat a lot of processed food, you may need to drink pulp free or filtered orange juice. Use the salt the same way, just drink every other glass of liquids as the orange juice. The reason for pulp free is that so your body will register it as liquid and not food.
We feel that if it is great, it works and you benefit, you will buy us a bottle of water. If you cannot afford a bottle of water (or otherwise do not want to buy us a bottle), then maybe you will tell others on social media or other blogs, even getting us a link. In other words, we hope you spread the word as you received free, so we hope you will give freely.
The home remedy for sunburn treatment for sun burn is the Water Cures protocol.
How to Do It: Get a bottle or glass of filtered water (no chlorine, no fluoride, no flavor, just water. Get some unprocessed salt (Celtic, Pink Himalayan, Real Salt from Idaho or the specialty salts like Dead Sea and other specialty salts). Drink 30 min before you eat and 2 1/2 hours after you eat. This is one of the key elements to getting the water into your skin.
If you drink with the meal, the water may be diverted differently than if you drink on an empty stomach.
Drink the night before sun exposure, before bed. The salt will keep the water in most people for 8 hours.
Drink 2 hours before your sun exposure, then one hour before and one hour into your sun exposure and every hour or two thereafter.
If you have a problem with needing to take a potty break, you may need some sugar. A half bagel will usually solve the problem for the next four hours.
How Much Water Calculate how much water you will need to drink. You will need to consume about 10% your body weight in ounces of water every hour for the next few hours. Never exceed 32 ounces in 2 hours and always take the salt with the water.
Only drink the amount of water you are comfortable with but the goal to work toward for most is at a minimum 10% your body weight.
On a daily basis, Dr. B suggested we need 50% our weight in ounces as a baseline. Divide that into 5 or 6 and that is how much we need each time we drink as a minimum. When we are hot, in the sun, working or playing hard, we may need more, much more salt. Thus, you will have to become your own scientist to discover what you need and what works best.
Drink 2 hours before your sun exposure, then one hour before and one hour into your sun exposure and every hour or two thereafter.
It is important to take the salt every time you drink the water. Drinking too much water without the salt could deplete your salt and be dangerous for your health.
Also, the salt is key to getting the water into each of your trillion cells, especially the ones of your skin that both heal and prevent the sunburn itch.

Why It Works:
There are several factors as to how it prevents sunburn and ends sunburn itch. The water and salt help with pain as well as the itch. They work as an antihistamine, one of the things a doctor gives to stop itching. Also, we theorize that once a cell has been filled up with water, the radiation of the sun cannot penetrate or even damage it as compared to a cell that is dehydrated. Of course, the more we are in the sun, the more our skin will dry out. So it is necessary to re-hydrate as we go through the day.

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...
"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Listen to your body. Do not use this if you are under a doctors care. Do not stop taking medications without consulting your doctor. If you are on medications, consult your doctor if you start the Water Cures Protocol as it may change your needs.

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.
As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water. Then I took a second pinch of salt and another glass of water. My headache was gone in less than 5 minutes.
From my personal experience, it usually takes 30 to 45 minutes for Ibuprofen to work. Some have found it takes ibuprofen 24 minutes to start working.
Yet on the Water Cures protocol, my headache was gone in 5 minutes.
Its simple: give your body what it needs and your body will give you what you need, the ability to feel great.
Water Cures was the solution for the elimination of my headache. It is what I will use from now on.
Why not give it a try yourself.
