When considering his own improvement of health, he realized he could be helping others. This was the inspiration for his water cures edema testimonial.
He had been suffering from edema in both legs, from below his knees to his ankles. There was no reason he was aware of that could have caused this other than dehydration.
Years ago he had heard of the water cures protocol. No longer did he have nights of waking at 4 AM to stuff down Rolaids for relief.
Even though he had been following the water cure for years, he had stopped. The symptoms caused him to realized he was dehydrated. He did not believe it was the medications he was taking. He had not been injured. The only thing he could account for it was the lack of salt and water.
Life was fine until, as life goes, he let go of his good habit, he stopped faithfully drinking water. The effects of dehydration slowly started to appear. One of these symptoms, he felt, was the edema in his legs. As a result, he called his doctor to make an appointment. The doc prescribed a drug, commonly called water pills, help him lose the excess water.
He used the water pills for a few days with no results. Informing the doc, a prescription for a stronger dose was waiting at the pharmacy that afternoon. After a few days use, there was still no change in his edema. It remained the same.
A few days later he spoke with a WaterCures.org hydration coach.
After taking his health history and assessing his current status, he was told, "It was explained, "The reason why your legs are swollen is that you are dehydrated. Research actually says the body's natural reaction to dehydration is 'storing' water it knows it will need. Once you are properly hydrated, your swelling will go away."
Note: Traditional medical thinking is that the body sometimes does things for no good reason. The treatment for these no good things is to undo them or add more chemicals to the body. Even though chemicals cause more problems, undoing an existing problem is worth it. Thus, doctors try to get rid of excess water by making the body diuresis or shed the water. In addition to getting rid of the water, other vital nutrients are also lost. At Water Cures, we believe our bodies only do things for a reason. Edema is there for a reason.
When he drank the water and increased the salt to the amounts his body needed, the swelling went down.
Here is the regimen he used. This process lasted over a few hours.
Starting at 7:00 PM
He drank a large glass of water. (Sometimes we recommend 4 ounces of fresh squeezed orange juice that is filtered with a cheese cloth. The salt can be added into the OJ for the first time you drink. This is to make sure adequate potassium is available.)
When he went to urinate, he measured the amount of of fluids being eliminated.
He then drank water equal to the same amount as the pee plus one ounce.
He kept repeating this and as he did so, the frequency of urinating increased. Soon, he began to pee just minutes after each glass. He was off to the bathroom every five minutes.
Then one of the secrets of how water cures happened. He started to pee (in medical terms, diuresis) a lot. Harry said, "When this started, I thought it would never stop. It felt great. After this, his Hydration Coach said to go to bed and follow with the regular regimen of salt and water the following day."

It is amazing how so many things that are new to us were common knowledge in the past. One basic practice of the Water Cures protocol is to drink at least 30-45 minutes before and 2 1/2 hours after a meal. This is not a new thought however. Notice what a magazine from 1925 had to say...
"Drink plenty of water two hours after each meal; drink none just before eating; and a small quantity if any at meal time. Do not take a bath until two hours after eating a meal, nor closer than one hour before eating. Drink a full glass of water both before and after the bath." (Golden Age, Sept. 9, 1925, pp. 784-785)

Hi, my name is Sharon. The webmaster of this site is my nurse, my personal water coach and my husband.
As this site was first being built, I had a headache and as usual took an Ibuprofen. Impatient for it to start working, I decided to try the Water Cures. I took a pinch of salt and a glass of water. Then I took a second pinch of salt and another glass of water. My headache was gone in less than 5 minutes.
From my personal experience, it usually takes 30 to 45 minutes for Ibuprofen to work. Some have found it takes ibuprofen 24 minutes to start working.
